We spend a week in Düsseldorf, Germany.
VAT-taxes on food have always been much lower than the Netherlands and good food is appreciated by all folks.
Good place to be in general.
We have self-accomodation wherever we go, with the routine of lunching out, diner selfmade or the other way.
No worries about Shropshire for food, we think.
Our budget is not sky-high, so if we can do in 7 days what we could do in 12 days in the past, so we will 🙂

Eating in GB:
It's in those unexpected villages: If there is a church and a pub, there will be a mom&pop-place with delicious homemade pies, soup etc.

An extra thing we experienced, not only GB:
If there are facilities in a town, but hardly any chain-bakery/coffee/burgerplace, it is OK.

I am by far not on your level, if ever.
Playing around with wholewheat grinded by windmil,
( Mill Oud Zevenaar "De Hoop"). Everything there including germ, little yeast, temperature, rye and sometimes flour.
And long rises.

We did a lot of travelling all over GB since 1975.
Only last few years I understand the unique rye-breads made by local independent bakeries we had.
Usually somewhere in the country
Ludlow due for next year Spring.
