If you've been following the #BrixtonAcademy crowd crush tragedy you may not have had time to check out the trail of its ownership through a nested pile of corporate entities but I did, and eight companies later... Live Nation Entertainment Inc, incorporated in Delaware, USA, who thus essentially control and, at a guess, profit from a significant chunk of UK live #music venues. Nice, eh?

(My sympathies to whoever keeps track of the complexities of their inter-company accounting, btw. )

No! I don't know how I managed to miss this. How horrible! I've seen so many gigs there over the past 27 years. Fuck. So sad.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the families and friends of Rebecca Ikumelo and Gaby Hutchinson.

I've seen crowd surges close up during nearly 40 years in nightclubs. We've had customers experience broken limbs in queue collapses, and we feared something like the deadly crush at the Brixton Academy last week. I am sad for these young women.

Waking up to the awful crush scenes at #BrixtonAcademy where eight people have been seriously injured, four in critical condition, trying to get into the #Asake show.

The videos are awful. I can’t imagine how scary it must be to be stuck in it.

Apparently, it was caused by fake ticket sales. Watch as #TicketMaster and #Police blame the fans.
