The goodbye feeling has begun. Kevin is off to Mexico, my mom's off to Banff, and I hope to drive south in a borrowed car past Nanton, Claresholm, and Fort McLeod – Brokeback Mountain farmland. Today this beautiful country is snowy.

I'll go visit a friend from uni—someone I've known over 40 years, which is a few years longer than I've known my husband.

This travelling is OK but what I really want is his two loving arms around me.
