Yeah, forcing Mastodon to be JS-only is sucky.

Luckily, there's CLI clients like @tut and toot, and maybe #Brutaldon (is that still a thing?)

Edit/P.S.: https://brutaldon.org is still there, but I couldn't get it to work in w3m, links, lynx, or firefox. It might just be an issue with fosstodon (or the newer versions of Mastodon), I don't know.

I was frustrated with the scrolling of the typical Mastodon Web UI and the amount of resources it takes in my browser.
That's why I am trying now Brutaldon UI. Much better. I only miss the button to bookmark a toot. #brutaldon

If #Brutaldon is a #MastodonFork without the JS that sounds compelling, we must research when we have better internet.

The problem wrt Misskey is they use a system that is blocked by TorBrowser. Others don't, even if they use JS.

#Emacs #eww question: apparently #brutaldon works with eww now, but eww on a terminal doesn't appear to show alt-text for images. Any obvious ideas on how to fix this?

I do so favour you, but you’ve had weird bugs since you swallowed the Java bait. You don’t load pics on no-Java and sometimes don’t even with Java. Is it because I have a high-latency connexion? You also bargle up mentioned @ on redraft. Are you peeliewallie a bit? Hope you feel better.

@webmistressming Check out #brutaldon and #pinafore clients for fediverse sometime. They are both minimalist and cute. The former has hard oldschool Web 1.0 options and the latter has a cute little ship logo because it is the very model of a modern major fedi client.

This is probably the first toot composed on a NEC V40-based system. As an 80188-class CPU, it's obviously too small for #DOStodon , I'm using lynx via MTCP telnet to larger machine to post using a #Brutaldon host.

That's true, but thankfully there are wonderful command line tools like toot and tut.

Also, while it's a little buggy at times, #Brutaldon lets you access mastodon with a very basic web browser, even #lynx and #Dillo. :)

It is a nice evening to be submitting merge requests to #brutaldon. (There were a few features I was missing.) Support your favorite #foss fediverse client today, whichever one that might be!
