Kathy and I ran the Big Sur Marathon 12K race this morning. There are 5 simultaneous races. The marathon, a 21 and 11 mile, a 12K, and 3K.

The 12K starts an hour and a half later than the marathon. I crossed the finish line about 5 minutes before the marathon winner. It’s good to be spotted an hour and a half and 19 miles. #running #marathon #bsim #bigsur

On the Alie dog walk this morning, I was talking with someone I see running regularly and asked if she was training for the Big Sur Marathon next month. She answered that while she's run the marathon in the past, she's training for the Tahoe 200 mile race.

I looked up the race - https://www.destinationtrailrun.com/tahoe - and looked at the elevation and course maps, and thought, "holy smoke!"

The race "At a Glance" listed:
- 36,857 + feet of ascent/descent
- 206.2 miles, out-and-back course from Heavenly Stagecoach Lodge

Did I mention "holy smoke" ?

Kathy and I are training for the Big Sur Marathon 12K (one of the 5 races as part of the Marathon race morning). This will be my 5th BSIM 12K - https://www.bigsurmarathon.org/races/12k

The Tahoe 200 makes my 12K look like a leisurely walk in the park.
