In this short video there is something extraordinary, the constraints on the curves, now a world opens up here! 
I had been following this development, but never got to test until today when I installed the edge version.

I had a go in Inkscape using a B-Spline curve. The result is veeery smooth. Note the position of the nodes in space. There is no ugly flat spot on the right side of the logo any more.
