A special mention to the team from my old school Coláiste Iognáid, Galway who demonstrated that people will recycle much more if they are rewarded for doing so and recommend that the Deposit Return Scheme be extended to all plastics.
I really enjoyed this one looking at a whole new way of doing Local Governance with smaller governance units based on parishes. The guys who did it said that they showed it to Cork TDs Michael Creed and Simon Coveney but neither sounded too convinced. I think it has great merit.
And two related to speed, one poignant project looking a speed limiters on cars and another looking at the impact of speed on fuel efficiency.
And here are two projects in Cork looking at school transport. In Millstreet they investigated the fairness of the school bus scheme and in Macroom they looked at the opportunity to increase walking and cycling following the completion of the bypass.
