The former Wylie and Lochhead (furniture makers) building on Buchanan Street in Glasgow. It was designed by James Sellars in a Renaissance style and was built in 1884 to replace an earlier building which was destroyed by fire. It isn't, as it might at first glance seem, made from red sandstone. Instead, it has a cast iron frame clad in terracotta.

The Buchanan Street Camel.
Situated on the side of the former Commercial Bank of Scotland building on the corner of Gordon Street and Buchanan Street in Glasgow, it has always struck me as a bit of a weird choice of animal to feature on a Glasgow building, but may symblose the prudent laying up of resources.

The former Glasgow Herald Building on Buchanan Street in Glasgow. Designed by James Sellars and built in 1879, it connects the later Herald Building on Mitchell Street, which was designed by John Keppie and Charles Rennie MacKintosh and constructed in the 1890s.

One of five portrait roundels on the Glasgow Stock Exchange building on Buchanan Street.
Attributed to John Mossman, it depicts a woman doing science, something unremarkable today, but when it was built in the 1870s, science was an almost completely male field of study. I can't say for certain, but it must be one of the earliest public representations of a female scientist.

The former Burton's Menswear Store on Argyle Street in Glasgow.
Established by Montague Burton in the 1903, by the 1920s, Burton's had become so successful that it had 400 stores as well as its own factories and mills, and even employed its own in-house architect (Harry Wilson) to build its distinctive and impressive 'Modern Temples of Commerce' style stores. This particular store was built in 1929.
