As City Council meets today to discuss the long-term financial plan, I call on Mayor Olivia Chow, Dianne Saxe, & the rest of council to support new revenue tools such as a commercial parking levy & lifting the $5/hr parking cap. #TOpoli #BudgetTO https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/mayor-olivia-chow-to-face-calls-to-cut-spending-at-council-meeting/article_b5265792-1ec7-5aab-9d8b-79826a0f3c27.html
Today's column by @GraphicMatt offers a good suggestion for Mayor Olivia Chow to meet her housing goals. Leverage land at the #TTC stations & Green P Parking lots! #TOpoli #BudgetTO https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/olivia-chow-must-move-fast-to-meet-new-affordable-housing-goal/article_a72aaf6e-6ef5-5003-ae64-7bc15b7e221f.html
This morning's column from @GraphicMatt calls for ending corporate subsidies through the IMIT program as one solution (among many) for Mayor Olivia Chow to fill the budget hole. Tory giving $15M in grants to pharma giant Sanofi is stupid. #TOpoli #BudgetTO https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/there-s-a-gravy-train-for-corporations-at-city-hall-olivia-chow-should-put-a/article_5315564f-e722-5de4-9b93-a6dae815115f.html

While Toronto's 2023 budget does not have much #BikeTO stuff to report on, there are several things that make this #BudgetTO worth raising hell about. My latest post looks at the budget shortfall, police increase, #TTC cuts & how to raise hell. http://www.twowheeledpolitics.ca/2023/01/a-budget-worth-raising-hell-about.html
So it looks like #BudgetTO has $17.6 billion in climate action in the 10-Year Capital Plan. That’s a decent number. The trouble is that the total 10-Year Capital Budget is $49.3 billion.
What impact will it have if 65% of the capital plan invests into the wrong things?
Today, the mayor’s office will release #BudgetTO. I will be watching to see if investments in GHG reductions and climate preparedness meets the challenge of the climate emergency.
