One of our local pieces of built heritage is this ice house, “the last upstanding part of Clare Grove House, a large house in the parish of Balgriffin and Barony of Coolock. According to
Lewis's Topographical Dictionary in 1837, Clare Grove House was the residence of General A. Cuppage. The house later became Clare Manor Hotel before being demolished in the 1980s.” The area is now known as Clare Hall.

Seems like any development of the Moore Street area which does NOT preserve the 1916 Rising buildings would be a significant error in judgement.

Retaining and preserving these buildings for future generations would enhance and not retract from the area

@JasonThorne Plus, the material quality is so much different. I thought I knew what lumber looked like until we started renovating our 1911 house. The grain and quality of the wood, even in our hastily constructed boom-time house, is incredible. To knock it down and build a hastily constructed, slightly larger new home made out of plastic, new-growth wood, and new concrete, like so many in my neighbourhood are doing, would be such a waste of resources. #heritage #BuiltHeritage #climateChange
