It is possible to make even minor things last a long time. My parents are still using coat hangars from when my grandfather was a child (a century of constant use), I have my great grandparents piano which still works great at a similar age and is wonderfully easy to repair and maintain (disassembles neatly in seconds). I was also eating my late grandmothers decade old redcurrant jam (still very tasty) last week. #BuiltToLast #Reuse

I was going through some old stuff from my parents' house, and I found my mother's Hamilton Beach electric knife from the late 1960s. I plugged it in, and it still runs. 50+ years old! Nothing made today would last that long.

@matt I wish all laptops were as easy to work on as thinkpads. Not refering to the latest ones as I haven't tried them out. My trhusworthy x201 was bought second hand 3 years ago, added a new battery, and ever since never let me down.
