Those of you that think WE have Infrastructure problems, look at the US. They dont even have a clue how to fix the dead end they're in. Fun fact: High speed trains in the US are called "bullet trains". Of course, what else. :-)

While I may never see rapid transit in Canada in my lifetime, I can at least say that I’ve experienced the Shinkansen in Japan, the TGV in France and UK and express airport trains in Sweden. So I know what rapid transit, I just don’t think we’ll get there with such a large country as ours.

Yes, it's true: built a dense net of in a very short time. Autocratic states where subjects have no say are often good at hammering out stuff. Sadly it's also true that they managed to see a catastrophic accident with those trains shortly after in 2011. When implementing big projects, fast is not necessarily better, and almost is far from right.
