不吠叫也不咬人的护卫犬

在工作中无所畏惧，在家中温顺老实，斗牛獒犬/或牛头马士提夫是一个体型庞大、肌肉发达的守卫者。它的脑袋又大又宽：深色的眼睛、高高的 V 形耳朵和宽口吻，露出智慧和警觉的表情。 但与任何大型护卫犬一样，趁着小狗体型还小，可以控制的时候，主人必须尽早开始训练和社交。不然等长大长到了100来斤的时候，谁也管不住了。

斗牛獒犬看家的方式是悄悄地追踪和控制入侵者，并不伤害他们。在 19 世纪中后期，英国贵族的广阔乡村庄园和野生动物保护区是偷猎者的目标。 当时的法律严酷，偷猎者被抓住可能会面临绞刑，所以遇到庄园的猎场看守，他们宁愿把看守杀掉也不愿被抓。

作为回应，猎场看守人培育了体型大、速度快、勇敢的新品种，它们在夜深人静的时候追赶并控制偷猎者。 它们大到足以吓跑任何入侵者。足够聪明，能按照命令工作，又足够温顺，不会伤害他们。

斗牛獒犬非常温顺，喜爱孩子。但首先，你的狗必须来自于负责的繁殖者，才会有稳定的性格。其次，多么温顺的大型犬，都不应该在没有大人监管时与幼小的孩子独处。即使出于无意，大狗也可能撞到或者踩到孩子。
