Super impressed with how fast that Bun.js fixed a bug with the Node Interop crypto HMAC SHA256 buffers using strings, literally within an hour of me filing the issue https://github.com/oven-sh/bun/issues/1902 #bunjs #nodejs #javascript
I just did a bunch of reading on #zig (it’s what #bunjs is written in, and I love bun) and now I’m wondering whether I should spend time learning #zig or #rust (which is more mature, and has similar goals but more emphasis on safety).
I’m curious to hear people’s thoughts. It seems like in a nutshell, zig is an rethinking of C and rust is a rethinking of C++ but maybe I’m wrong on that too. Both seem better than go.
Been playing around with https://bun.sh - very fast compared to Node, and `bun install` gets packages from NPM in about ~2 seconds. Some issues with FFI though, had to swap bcrypt for bcryptjs. Please excuse my anonymous type alias 😂

I wonder who is doing Deno first development in JavaScript versus just using the npm compatibility and extending what they already have to a new environment.
I get and respect the security first approach it takes, but are folks targeting Deno first and then maybe Node and Bun

With Bun, the super-fast all-in-one JavaScript runtime now out, read @joze's take on it and how the new tool fares in front of npm, esbuild, babel, and Webpack
