@arichtman @dashdsrdash some thin client may be an option.
I got a 3 pack of T620 with power supply, 10GB SSD & 4GB RAM each for like €90 with shipping on #eBay...

You'll likely need to read datasheets then, but otherwise they're great if you need some silent #Terminal or #MiniServer.
@ubuntu / #UbuntuServerLTS, @bunsenlabs / #BunsenLabsLinux #Desktop and even @tails / #Tails just run fine on those.
#tails #Desktop #bunsenlabslinux #ubuntuserverlts #miniserver #Terminal #ebay
@stepfister @billgoats @Raspberry_Pi @bunsenlabs @ubuntu @tails Like #bunsenLabsLinux, that is too a #debian-based #lightweight distro and also a fine choice.
Some people may even find #LubuntuLTS or @linuxmint #LinuxMint a good option when it comes to providing a hassle-free unit when one wants a #Desktop and not just a #ThinClient option similar to #Porteus which is a #Freemium offering...

@billgoats I recommend something like a #hp #T620 #ThinClient for those that want to poke with #Linux on the #Desktop.
You can get one used with 4 GB RAM, WiFi and power supply for less than a @Raspberry_Pi #Pi4B2GB or #CM4WLite1GB at MSRP.
It'll run anything from #RaspberryPiOS for #ix86 and #lightweight #Linux distros like @bunsenlabs #BunsenLabsLinux to @ubuntu #UbuntuServer LTS and even @tails #Tails.
Tho #UbuntuDesktop will feel very slow on it.
But with something like #Porteus it's fine.

One core advantage that @bunsenlabs #BunsenLabsLinux has is that it not only takes #Debian :debian: stable packages but also supports "Load into RAM" and then runs from a blazigly fast #RAMDISK, which makes it even snappier on machines > 4GB RAM...
#ramdisk #Debian #bunsenlabslinux
@schratze @SigmaOne consider @bunsenlabs / #BunsenLabsLinux then?
At least for #desktop use that is...

@stux @calculsoberic same.
Tho I use #BitTorrent to quickly get newer releases of @ubuntu / #Ubuntu LTS Desktop & Server as well as @bunsenlabs / #BunsenLabsLinux & @Raspberry_Pi #RadpberryPiOS.
Espechally since smaller projects like #BunsenLabs #Linux can't afford to pay big CDNs for fast HTTPS, and whilst halifax server at #RWTH Aachen is fast, I like to seed...
#RWTH #Linux #bunsenlabs #radpberrypios #bunsenlabslinux #Ubuntu #bittorrent
@KarlHeinzHasliP or just start them off with a @Raspberry_Pi #Pi400 Kit if one can afford it.
If not, some #refurbished PC/Laptop with some beginner-friendly distro [I'd recommend @ubuntu #UbuntuLTS for both the community and commercial support (incl. 3rd party apps and games)]...
And if you're really tight on budget, you may find some old #ThinClient or #Netbook that'll run fine with @bunsenlabs #BunsenLabsLinux and/or #RaspberryPiOS...
#RaspberryPiOS #bunsenlabslinux #netbook #thinclient #ubuntults #refurbished #Pi400
Refurbished my Samsung Chromebook 3 (XE500C13) and put #BunsenLabsLinux on it. I was a huge fan of Crunchbang#! #Linux back in the day. Glad to see there have been some from that community who have carried the torch. I should probably jump back into the forums and start helping and sharing with other users again! (Though it did cross my mind to try ArchBang, 😆 .)
Has anyone successfully replaced the battery on a #Google #Pixelbook 2017 (eve)? If so, which battery did you use?
Also, has anyone had any success running either vanilla #Debian or #BunsenLabsLinux on the Pixelbook 2017? I'm staring at the AUE of June 2024 and thinking it might just be worth it to run a standard #Linux distro on it.
