@SrRochardBunson well there's a whole formal thing a "Burns supper" where you go out to a gathering starting with a piper, reciting poems, stabbing a haggis🔪 , eating haggis and drinking. Much meriment. Supposed to be celebrating Robert Burns. Rules for how to do it properly

We live near the Bachelors' Club, the literary and debating society #RobertBurns founded, in the village of Tarbolton in South Ayrshire. Needless to say, we'll be celebrating tonight with a #BurnsSupper of haggis, neeps, tatties, and a few whiskies. Happy #BurnsNight :)

Traditionally, the host begins proceedings by saying #SelkirkGrace, which was written by Burns and believed to have been first read by the Earl of Selkirk: “Some hae meat and canna eat/ And some wad eat that want it;/ But we hae meat, and we can eat,/ Sae let the Lord be thankit.”

Whilst traditionally associated with New Year’s Eve this is also sung on Burns Night. At the end of the meal the host gives a speech at which point everyone stands and sings Auld Lang Syne, crossing their arms and joining hands at the line “And here's a hand, my trusty fere!”.

A friend and I have been asked to perform a couple of songs at a neighbour's not so traditional Burns Night (there is haggis and #whisky though!) and we'll be doing this alongside two or three other Scottish songs.

This is not the tune that most folk will recognise and it has all the verses that are usually missed out.
