Getting this shot took a lot of planning!
Every sunset, this #burrowingowl would leave its burrow under the graffitied seawall at Ocean Beach, fly to a random perch, sit there for a few seconds and fly into the dark to hunt. Every night, I’d lay flat in front of a potential perch to get the shot. This was taken on the night I finally picked the same perch as the owl. (Repost. Previously posted on now-deleted server).

Getting this shot took a lot of planning!

A #burrowingowl in front of graffitied seawall in #SanFrancisco.
This shot took planning and persistence. The owl would come out of its burrow nightly just before sunset, fly out to a random perch on the beach and sit for about 30 seconds before taking off into the night to hunt.
Every night I’d lay flat in the sand in front of a possible perch it might choose and wait. This was taken the one time I chose the same spot as the owl! #wildlife #owl #bird #photography #wildlifephotography
