@JoBlakely I use devonthink to index all my digital everything, and I export deliverables to a sane folder structure in the cloud.

I use #drafts to capture incoming notes and tasks.

I use #Obsidian for daily notes, a scratch pad, and an interface to my tasks, schedule, and important information I reference frequently.

I use #todoist for tasks, but I wish it was #omnifocus

#BusyCal for calendar, but I wish it was #Fantastical.

My point is, the tool doesn't matter. Any tool will do.

@death_au #Busycal allows you to merge the same event from multiple calendars. This is on the Apple platform though. I suspect others will provide this in the future.

@pkm #pkm community, does anyone have experience with #setapp? I have never taken a look at it because I try to keep my applications weeded out, using the less is more philosophy.

With that said, seeing that #ulysses is included and that is $39 / year on its own subscription, I started looking at the other apps that I already use - currently #busycal #busycontacts #goodtask #houdahspot #netspot and #Hookmark

I used #Todoist and #Omnifocus, both extremely good, but I wanted something that was tightly baked into OSX. #Goodtask hit the sweet spot of giving me more features over #Reminders alone.

I can open my week view in #BusyCal and see the flow of tasks due each day against my calendars. Tasks also appear in #agenda app for my time based notes. Location based reminders, share sheet and Siri work great.

I agree. I use tasks sparingly in #Obsidian to flag my attention to pages or notes that need to be finished or completed, but I would never keep my entire task list there.

For everything else I use Apple Reminders (with #GoodTask as a front end). It integrates into Siri and I can create a task out of most things using the share sheet function. Tasks are pushed to #Agenda and #Busycal

I agree with @markmcelroy sometimes dedicated tools are better.

Man, that is one helluva jump in subscription pricing for #Fantastical. I get that some of the new features are likely expensive to maintain but I don't use them, so I'm probably not part of the target market any longer. I'm already using #setapp, so it looks like it's time to give #BusyCal a shot.

One of the biggest things for me is having tasks on my calendar. If the native Calendar app would provide that feature I'd just go that route.

No, it's not because of inadequate error handling for that very infrequent condition that cropped up.

Since neither Apple's Calendar app or BusyCal allow you to put default alarms on subscribed calendars (odd omission) I wrote an AppleScript to do so when Hazel detects the calendar has updated. I set the alarm for 18:00 the night before. Today I noticed events ALSO have a 09:00 alarm. 😖
