Is there a #fediverse -based alternative to those newsletter / blog hybrids with "community building" features like #substack, ghost.org, #buttondown or #medium?
This question has been asked before on the fediverse here, but no good answer so far:

(google seems to be indexing and giving out fediverse results pretty far on top now.)

#Buttondown was a strong choice that I'm looking into. You get really good tech advice when you ask on here, lol.
What's our fav free-tier #email #crm these days? #mailchimp #klaviYO #tinyletter #buttondown #constantcontact etc? This would be for a bunch of small orgs with lists generally less than 200 members. Currently they're just managing BCC lists from their personal email 🤮

If I were to start a #newsletter, should I go with #Buttondown or #Ghost?

I'm casually shopping for Substack alternatives, and I settled on two: Ghost and Buttondown. I saw @brainwane endorsing the latter, and the former has the advantage of being open source.
Thoughts?

Dear lazyweb, do you happen to use #buttondown and, in particular, their #RSS automation?
I can see in their pricing page https://buttondown.email/pricing that RSS-to-email is a feature available from basic plan ($9), yet I've been playing with it for a while on a free plan and it seems to be working. Is that intentional? Does $9/month bring me anything the free plan doesn't?
I'm considering using it as my subscription infra but I don't want to make a long-term commitment if I have any sort of doubts.
Note to self that if I run a newsletter there’s always #Buttondown if I want to at least share it on Bird Site. TBH I thought more people would move over there after transphobes started making #Substack newsletters. Guess not.

Exciting news for my 117th newsletter...
I just noticed Buttondown has a field for Mastodon links. Who knew? I added Mastodon and Twitter. Maybe I should do something with my GitHub account so that I have a reason to add it too...
In any event, this week's newsletter covers our newest articles (including three that eclipsed 5,000 words), 10 links from around the web, and exciting stories such as "how I briefly broke the entire site for 2-3 hours" and "trying to make my universal remote connect to my internet-deprived Roku TCL TV after replacing my soundbar" (the issues were probably unrelated, maybe).
If you like the newsletter, note it also has an RSS option.

The 115th edition of our newsletter, which happened to fall on Christmas Eve, features our eleven new articles from the week (including one app review, two Christmas decoration photos, two articles about quinces, and three reviews of old visual novels), ten links from around the web, and other news, notes, and links from our archive. If you enjoy the content, note you can subscribe to the weekly Newsletter Leaf Journal via RSS instead of email.

Don't use Substack; use Buttondown.

@patricksherriff Not better per se. Just an alternative. I'm interested in using it as the developer is good to his word and answers questions personally. He aided my migration of Substack posts into #buttondown. That in itself was reason enough for me. There's good markdown support and more flexible paid subscription models - if you go that way.
@patricksherriff #buttondown is an alternative to Substack. Have a few Substack posts but looking to kick off again via Buttondown. https://buttondown.email/
@fionawhim @teamupmoves I've had good experiences with #Buttondown ! Though I'll admit I have only used it for a very small audience - not sure how it scales.
