I know some of the people involved with #BylinesScotland and I genuinely do believe the poll fiasco was an honest mistake driven by Birdsite Brain (ie the need to constantly produce clickbait for the algorithm).

I also find it interesting how all the responses *here* are accusing #bylines of being deliberately transphobic; while all the responses on Twitter are accusing them of being "TRAs".

Which honestly says more about the current culture of twitter than the #BylinesNetwork.

We are a Mastodon account following all the amazing people who contribute to the Bylines Network to help create our own Bylines community.

We will not be posting, but we will be giving you all a nice shiny verified badge on the Bylines server making it easier for each Bylines to recognise each of you as a contributor.

Well put. It does indeed open up a lot of important questions to chew on.

And #BylinesNetwork is not designed to be for -or by- the narrow demographic described. That's an essential problem with MSM, and by developing a citizen journalism platform, we very explicitly want to expand the demographics both of our writer base and our readership so that we are filling all those gaps (geographically & demographically) that MSM neglect is leaving. It'll take time, work, errors & learning.

I looked up PeerTube - found the official join page was down and that the UK instance shut down in Sept 2022.

...which I was disappointed about as had been considering it for our #BylinesNetwork build in the #Fediverse.

So... We've done a fun thing. 😍

We've connected our #Bylines app with our #Fediverse presence.

You will now see there a new channel/source called "All Network News".

That is a direct RSS feed from our new @NetworkNews account on our Bylines.Social server.

This means that we can directly post news about the #BylinesNetwork here on Mastodon and have it visible in our app. And from our app, you can visit Mastodon. Sweet.

We keep seeing people confusing @BylineTimes with the #BylinesNetwork

Very understandable as we are sister organisations - and our Bylines App includes Byline Times, BylineTV etc.

However, the #Bylines Network is its own entity and subscriptions to Byline Times do not fund the Bylines Network (which has its own community of supporters).
