Those who follow me may recall that I posted readings from an Aranet4 CO2 monitor at the three gaming conventions I attended in 2022, as a way of evaluating the venues' ventilation. (In brief: Gen Con terrible, Gamehole Con excellent, PAX Unplugged mostly good but significantly elevated Saturday afternoon).

I didn't post readings at #C2E2 this year, but if anyone's curious: They were in the middle (mostly 900–1,300 ppm, peaking around 1,500). Not great, but not dangerously high, either.

3 standout happy impressions from #C2E2 weekend

1. A visit from a reader who bought books at Michigan Comicon in 2018 (!) 5 years on, he recalled the plots well enough to tell his friend the details he liked best.

2. Every time a reader looked at my tablemate Dex's books & said, "Sure, give me all 4." SO HAPPY FOR HIM. (Steampunk Cyborg Zombies. Yes. EPIC.)

3.Multiple times, I excitedly talked at length about characters & future book plans w/o feeling like I was boring my listeners.

So far I have restrained my convention splurging to1 new pin for my Con Armor vest, but there may be new art commissions in my future.

One of our table-neighbors on the #C2E2 Artist's Alley makes amazing enamel pins AND is also a supremely talented artist whose style is the kind that sucks me right in.

Izzie & Natalie deserve developmental pics, right? Also I should celebrate getting to Sunday without a meltdown. Yeah. I can rationalize.

At past conventions I would've spent today struggling to “produce relatable Social Media content” bc that's what all the successful writers were doing. Plus I'd feel guilty about doing it so badly.

This time I'm in the #fediverse where there's zero push to be Engaging or Produce, so I can just post about thunderstorms or sparklies I want to buy, or even vent my fears about no one choosing my spectacular book babies w/so many other great reads on offer.

So much better.

Awesome folks at Artist Alley tables around me: making plans for evening, exciting meet-ups, meals, parties, etc.

Me: plotting the best route back to my hotel room for solitude, silence, showering, snacks & sleep.

Would I love to socialize more at cons? Yes! Will I? Never!

Exhibit floor crowds push a lot of emotional buttons, & I have to ration energy.
