I won't quite say that these are immortal, but this is in nice shape. It opens a little hard with a touch of char, then it blossoms. The juicy finish is enticing. It is certainly fully mature and it isn't getting any better. But it's still a nice drink.

Tonight’s Aussie cellar dweller: the 2012 Chertsey from @penleyestate is oaky, with mocha and cedar over herbal, leafy notes and hints of cherry tomato, cassis, and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and velvety, it seems to have plenty of life ahead of it. Liked it, didn’t love it. The blend is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and 14% Cabernet Franc.

Drinking almost like a Cru Beaujolais! This wine is bursting at the seams with every red fruit you can think of and an absolutely mouthwatering finish full of acidity and just the barest hint of tannin. A real treat of a Cab Franc with a flavor profile that's uncommon in Virginia wines.

We associate with red wine. But 60 years ago approx 58% of the vineyard area was white! was the most widely planted variety, followed by , (!) and the Cabernets ( & together). Also, Hybrids accounted for 25% of Bordeaux vines.
