I couldn't get the #Perl #cabrillo #log aggregator done in time to submit #WinterFieldDay logs for our #club, but I could at least hack together a #shell #script that does most of the dirty work. Still had to change a few things by hand, like correcting the frequency/band field for #VHF contacts, and computing the CLAIMED-SCORE but it's nothing that #awk couldn't handle. #Proud of our club for showing such #enthusiasm for #operating #portable!

My #cabrillo #aggregator written in #perl is coming along nicely, but it’s really much more a #computer #programming thing than a #hamradio thing. That said, I will be publishing the code eventually once it handles all the mandatory stuff described in the specification.

#Cabrillo #log aggregation is only as difficult as one makes it on oneself. Or in my case, silly-difficult. Is there nothing that I cannot over-complicate? 😅

I just confirmed that #WinterFieldDay ADIF logs created using the WFD template in the HAMRS logging software can be directly imported into a WFD log opened in the #N1MM contest logger.

N1MM can then be used to generate a #Cabrillo version of the log.

This simplifies the process of converting logs into the required Cabrillo format for submission, and allows me to leave my laptop at home and log with HAMRS on my iPad or even the iPhone.

Yesterday we went to watch the New Year ‘Polar Bears Swim’ at Cabrillo Beach - lots of people braving the cold Pacific Ocean! (No we didn’t go in, our excuse being that we’re still recovering 😉) Bright sunshine, strong wind and big waves - it looked like fun!
