@sambennett
Sounds like I might join the #CADAAD conference 2024, then. Hope
@alischinsky feels the same!
I wonder if @CharlotteTaylor might know if any of the #CADAAD organizers are here to help us out with the thought behind placing next year's conference in Poznań?
(And I would honestly like to discuss the current semantics of words like 'crazy', since I hear you, but I'll create another thread on that.)
@alischinsky Had not seen anything about the next #CADAAD conference, so thank you for noting that they decided on a location. I agree that it seems to be a bad idea to put it in such a country, but if organised properly, it could also mean an act of protest.
I mean, if your local government turned just as crazy, would you stay and organise, or would you go?
(Struggling with that question myself.)
I used to regularly attend the #CADAAD conference, but I'd missed the last couple of times
The fact they've scheduled the next one in Poland confirms I won't be coming again
YMMV, but the country with the worst #LGBTQ+ protections in the EU seems to me no place to hold a conference on #CriticalDiscourseAnalysis — and certainly not somewhere I'd feel safe visiting
