It's started. Need to show up for some in person meetings soon. What are your favourite portable #HEPA air purifiers that have a good #CADR , are relatively #quiet on full, and still #portable ?

I have access to a small LV-H132, HPA104C, and HPA5150WC but wondering if anyone else uses something better that they're happy using while teaching or while in meetings?

We've thought about it, and some of us have resolutions to share. Do you have any clean air resolutions this year?

So the crucial number for an air purifier is the "clean air delivery rate" or #CADR. In the US, this is measured in "cubic feet per minute" (#CFM) of *filtered air*.

With #HEPA, which filters out 99.97% of particles, the CFM of the HEPA purifier is basically the same as the CFM of the fan.

With a CR box built with MERV-13 filters, which is only guaranteed to remove 50% of particles, the CFM of the CR box is *half* the CFM of the fan itself (it's filtering half the air....) 1/n

@jpanzer it’s good, but can be better. Portable devices supplementing mech #ventilation can be useful, but one device in the corner of a large room providing 7L/p/s in the absence of any mech /natural vent may not be as effective as a well designed mechanical cross vent at equivalent or less flow. Not complaining, it’s a good start. Would be better to see #CADR divided amongst 2-4 devices spaced around a room where possible (see last two photos below) #HEPAfilters #HEPAFilter
