12 people enjoying soft serve 🍦 at the Milk Drunk is better than two parking spaces.

Sometimes simplicity is best. Peloton Cafe just put out some basic wood picnic tables for their seating and it works great!

(Plus a cameo of a corner bike corral. This kind of bike parking increases visibility at intersections β€” a win for safety and access).

It's incomprehensible why the Ballard Ave Landmark Board is trying to restrict the pergolas to 10', especially when it would negatively impact the Ballard Farmers Market. The average car length is 14.7 feet.

RT @RayDubicki
Ballard Farmers Market is commenting that shrinking the pergolas to 10x10 actually screws over the farmers. Current 12' allows storage for restaurants equipment during Sunday market.

Checked out Magnolia’s seating today. I like their addition of public benches to the privately managed seating β€” creates a nice welcoming mix of options to sit

@CathyTuttle five streets that inspire me in Seattle:

Fairview Ave: school street in Eastlake.
Lake Washington Boulevard: from Mt Baker-Seward Park when it is an Open Street.
Occidental Ave: Seattle's historic pedestrian-only street.
42nd Ave S: A p-patch diverter in South Seattle.
Ballard Ave: since it became Seattle's most successful

Any can sit here and enjoy the space by buying a $3.50 bottomless coffee and support a small local business.
Or you can buy a $47,000 car, pay for insurance, maintenance, gas, and parking and support the auto/oil industries.

This block of NE 43rd in the U-District is a thriving street thanks to the @UDPartnership@twitter.com’s seating, murals, and the calm atmosphere created by being car free! Come check it out if you haven’t already
