Those carbonates instead CO2 in Venus' atmosphere -over 90 times our atmospheric pressure. This gives Venus a surface temperature of 475°C.

Poor Venus.

Sometimes the samples can be so clear that you could read through them. But mainly, can be found as small-grained constituent of limestone or sandstone.

Match 11 of today and this will be a tough one: shiny mineraloid against good, old bubbling . Opal has the looks but I prefer a crystal structure... See some fabulous examples of to convince you...

can form very well-defined crystals but sometimes also looks a bit plain and beige. All samples from mineral exhibition at Uni Münster.

@omniumgatherum why does the most popular proposal that keeps popping up use ? Sulfur is horrible stuff to have up in the atmosphere! I do think our ultimate climate solution will have to involve some forms of artificial to restore balance, and I’m also open to albedo-increasing ideas as an emergency stopgap, but am I the only one who remembers the 80’s and SO2 raining acid, eroding ozone and poisoning lakes? Why not try something like ?

A cool birthday gift from my husband! I collect minerals and have been after UV reactive ones lately. I had a cheap dual wave UV light that likes to die, so he got me a more powerful longwave UV flashlight. It really makes most of the rocks glow and as a bonus, seems to charge up my glow-in-the-dark stuff real fast!
