Re #DYK #CalciumCarbonate is used as white food colour, anticaking agent or to regulate the acidity or alkalinity of foods such as fruit juices, pastes and preserves.
E 170 can also be used as a source of #calcium in different foods and food #supplements

Today's Flickr photos with the most hits: the travertine cascades and pools at Pamukkale (cotton castle), Turkey.

The carbonate terraces were laid down by water from hot thermal springs running down the hillside, causing the minerals to precipitate out of the solution.

The site has been attracting visitors since ancient times.
