Question about Mastodon: I've heard about these other apps that people use mastodon with? Ivory? Calckey? A bunch of others? Do I have that right? I only use Mastodon on my laptop because having it on the phone is too much. Is there an app you think I should be using here to find friends and maybe get my music out there more? Ich war viele Jahre komplett ohne Social Media. Vor vielen Jahren hatte ich einen Facebook Account. Den habe ich irgendwann gelöscht weil der FB Algorithmus es schafft das schlechteste in mir zum Vorschein zu bringen. Vor einiger Zeit dann zu Twitter. Sobald klar war dass Musk übernimmt habe ich das Konto zur Löschung eingestellt. Seitdem Mastodon.

Ich habs jetzt mehrfach versucht, kein Setup behebt das Problem:

Wenn ich ein Banner-/Profilbild hochlade und es zuschneiden will, rennt sich das ganze tot. Nur Seite neu laden hilft, das abzubrechen. Ist das bei euch auch so?

Angenommen, ich will die Instanz irgendwann wieder einstampfen: Ich finde nix, wo ich die im Fediverse quasi "abmelden" kann. Bei Mastodon hatte ich sowas irgendwo gesehen.

Habt Ihr Infos, Ideen?

So, here is my ranking of #twitter #alternatives:

*1 – #Mastodon: It is a nice platform with lots of potential. So far it is the better alternative for me, despite not being algorithmically able to show recommendations. It does demand a lot of work to be useful or fun. After ~ 600 follows you almost start to see some action. Of course, not having a lot of followers means that you will end up talking to yourself.

*2 - #BlueSky: It may become the new Twitter but evolves slowly. To much shitposting in there. Too many weirdos. It is a rough experience, slow, clunky, weird.

*3 - #Firebird (was #Calckey): could be perfect. It is like Twitter evolved. The problem is that it is too unstable. Lots of downtime and bugs. Unreliable. Amateurish governance and planning on the development. It is probably becoming bloatware.

What is the finest granularity at which a #Mastodon admin can operate? My understanding from the docs is that it's the user, as opposed to #MissKey/‌#CalcKey‌/‌#FireFish that have admin filtering actions that can operate at the single post level. Is that correct?‌ #askFedi

mein persönlicher Favorit ist immer noch #Friendica, aber #Calckey / #Founkey / #Firefish gefällt mir von den Microbloggingsoftwares auch um Längen besser als Mastodon.
@matthias das *Einzigste*, dass mich davon abhält, diesen Account hier zugunsten meines Firefish-Accounts umzuziehen, ist, dass Firefish leider nicht richtig mit #Lemmy harmoniert.

Von Mastodon und Friendica aus klappt es dagegen ja sehr gut, mit und in Lemmy zu kommunizieren.

Huhu #calckey bzw #firefish Spezis: frisch aufgesetzter Fisch 1.0.3. Ich hab einen Testaccount löschen wollen und bekomm den einfach nicht aus dem System. Der acc selbst kann sich einloggen und bekommt auch angezeigt, dass die Löschung läuft. Es passiert nur nix. Ideen? #Followerpower

Mastodon has an "accounts/verify_credentials" endpoint that lets you pass in a token to retrieve account information. Does Misskey have anything similar?

Since I've set up my #Firefish (née #Calckey) server, I've really enjoyed the UI and features. What I really miss is the ability to curate my Home feed using followed hashtags. It would be so great if there was a way to include one or more Antennas in the Home feed. (Maybe there is an I missed something.)

Otherwise, things are going pretty great. I'm going to do a bit of a longer term test before I consider whether to migrate my main account to Firefish.

@don über Antennen werden aber schon auch #Lemmy-Beiträge in #Firefish gefunden (war in #Calckey und #Foundkey auch schon so). generell föderiert es allerdings leider mit Lemmy nicht gut, was allerdings wohl an Lemmy liegt. @privateger hatte mal Genaueres rausgefunden
