Brilliant exhibition of Alexander Calder kinetic sculptures, wire works and paintings at Serralves in Porto.

Calder's work is shown together with some by his great friend Joan Miro.

I've never seen his wirework pieces before. How the viewers movement changes their form is... wonderfully cubist.

This one dates from 1929.

#Calder’s #Circus is a toy-size mechanical circus created by #sculptor #AlexanderCalder (1898–1976). The whimsical sculpture consists of more than 70 miniature figures and animals, as well as almost 100 accessories, all made with wire, wood, metal, cloth, cork, fabric, and string. In this #Tate #Kids #animation, figures and shapes pay homage to Calder’s signature Circus.

Danse et cirque se marient dans ce spectacle, « Animal Sketching », présenté par la compagnie Samuel Mathieu dimanche 8 janvier au cirque-théâtre à Elbeuf. Une création pour quatre interprètes danseurs-acrobates qui créent "un bestiaire fantastique".
