Wenn ich das aber mache, dann wird bei Weiterleitung die Remote-Party-ID nicht durchgeroutet sondern die Caller-ID des Trunks. Was den Leuten im #HomeOffice natürlich überhaupt nicht gefällt. Ich will #ISDN zurück und nicht dieses *zensiert* #SIP

Just before Christmas they called every 4 minutes for Hours, hoping I'd pick-up when I saw a local number on the CallID. You can't trust #CallerID. I've had my home phone disconnected due to the repetition of these auto dialers.

Remember when #CallerID came in and you had to pay $2.50/month to find out who was calling you before you answered the phone? That's a pure Bellhead play. If we applied this principle to the internet, then you'd have to pay $2.50/month to see the "from" line on an email before you opened it.

alright, privacy and infosec folks - I would like to know your opinion on the the following directive from TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) and DOT (Department of Telecom)

TRAI is pushing KYC for the callers, and once this move is implemented, a receiver will be able to see the “name of the caller” as per the caller’s KYC record submitted to the telecom operator, even if the caller's name is not saved on their phone.

With this being proposed, one part of me is thinking of the privacy nightmare it can result in with the KYC, specifically the governance & guarding these details of 1 billion+ people. Secondly, can this allow enumeration in some form, to have a searchable index & hence leading to more targeted spam/ eve-teasing calls in some capacity?
