has sprung in and the trees are blooming.

Which means I get to recall the time I told my visiting European coworkers about this weird that folks used to love to plant… Only for my colleagues to say it didn’t smell like semen to them. So now I just look like a sex pest.

is rightly vilified, but keep an eye out for a lookalike this time of year: ! . Blooms from Mexican Plum smell as lovely as those of invasive Bradford Pear smell awful.

These pestilential trees have been causing yours truly to grit his teeth for approximately 30 years, and I can only hope our recent ice storms have snapped off a few more apnews.com/article/callery-pea

Have I complained yet about the Bradford pears blooming already? No matter when they bloom, they're bad trees. Why? Here's why: treebountync.com/bradford-pear

The good thing is that in some areas in North Carolina, you can get free replacement trees. Also, some arborists are offering discounts as part of this removal program: treebountync.com/

I also must tag @rossgrady for reasons. :)

Ornamental Pears are illegal in Ohio, considered an invasive plant.

Nurseries have stopped planting them, and they can only sell their existing stocks for a few more years. As of January 1, 2023, Callery pear will be illegal to sell, grow, or plant in Ohio.
