Working with spreadsheets a bunch the past few days has made me sadly have to use Excel for some features that don't work quite right in #LibreOffice, #OnlyOffice, #Calligra, and #Gnumeric.

The main issues I've had is getting VLOOKUP()s working reliably, and the little [1][2][3] boxes for subtotals showing up TEENSY TINY when using fractional scaling in Wayland.

#LibreOffice seems to be the most compatible, though. I know lots of people swear by OnlyOffice, but I've had several things not work

I had a short-time hope with #Scribus to get things done but a bug prevents using the styles with certain screens. I tried #Calligra but a bug shrinks the main panel to an unusable size. I even tried #LyX but I don't want to spend my time coding stuff. #Manuskript doesn't have a solution to layout books for ebooks or printing. Etc.

Proprietary it is then.

I recently gave #calligra office a shot and I am quite sad.
The whole suite is so refreshing: they are not copying MSoffice like the Libre guys. The whole workflow is reconstructed, it is much less in the way, everything is in place, you can concentrate on the doc, not the tools. This is how an office suite should look like. You could be so much more efficient with it.
BUT it is full of bugs which hurt usability. I have tried Calligra Words and Stage but I sadly have to go back to LibreOffice.

@EdwardTorvalds@mstdn.io Not an arch user, but I agree that #libreoffice is #bloatware. Gigantic and resource hungry. Even KDE's #calligra is smaller! (But, unfortunately, littered with bugs.)
