As I use #Meta services less over time I also grow less concerned with them owning my data.

That data is growing stale because I’m not the same person today as I was back when I was using their services regularly, thusly the risk of a #CambridgeAnalytica type situation affecting me becomes less of a concern.

They can use text I write publicly to train #LLM systems, and I cannot really prevent it, but at the same time it doesn’t really impact me negatively in my daily life if they do.

Just to summarize: The guys who assassinated Gandhi for being too nice to Muslims are in charge of India and it was Facebook and Whatsapp that they used to take over. Aborda el tema de como agrupan a las personas por perfiles y saben que tipo de perfiles son más vulnerables a cambiar de opinión y en base a eso crean publicidad personalizada, el resto mírenlo en el documental que pueden encontrar en netflix !

Je viens de découvrir #solidproject (Un peu tard, le projet date de 2019) et je suis vraiment emballé par le principe. Après tous les scandales sauce #CambridgeAnalytica de ces dernières années, c'est rafraîchissant d'avoir une solution pour reprendre le contrôle sur nos données qui ne se résume pas à disparaitre totalement d'internet.

@sarahjamielewis we were young and naïve back then too, but I definitely think #forums are due for a resurgence. I've been ringing this bell for years now after #CambridgeAnalytica broke, but this latest round of closing off the internet is just pushing more and more people away from walled gardens and closed platforms.

I'm hoping @nodebb (N.B. this is my #foss project) can lead the way on this, with a modern take on the tried and true #forum formula.

So suppose we have a repeat of #Facebook selling data on their pawns to #CambridgeAnalytica in a #Thiel-brokered scheme to get #Trump in power. And because a fedi admin failed to protect their users from that, those users also became pawns who then added to Trump’s support. Then you discover after Trump gets re-elected what happened.

Isn’t it too late? Are you not to blame for failing to protect your users from predictably becoming FB pawns?
