After taking a bus out of the city of Oviedowe arrive back on the #caminonorte #caminodesantiago #hiking

#hiking #caminodesantiago #caminonorte First day of hiking in Asturias. We had a great day after a wonderfull stay in the little village in the hills, moving along the hills and fields across the rivers to the coastal route, with bonus lagoons and caves! An extra long day for us, arriving around 17.30h we booked in advance, anticipating full albergues and hostels due to the holy week, and then dealing with dissapointment around the 22km mark, wantimg to stop at an inn, but needing to move on!

#hiking #caminodesantiago #caminonorte A fairly easy day. Around 20 km along the coast and hills, having a nice long section along the beach. And going back up to the hills, ending at a little town on this lovely Palm Sunday. We heard the drums and trumpets of the processions in the distance at San Vincent but sadly did not get to see it. After arriving earlier then normally, we had a pilgrims menu of Canrabrian mountain stew with beans, sausage bacon and black pudding, fish soup and dessert.

Wonderful stay in the countryside at the perhaps the best Albergue in Spain. Walking along the cliffs of the coast up to the city of Santander. Walked over the beach with some pilgrim friends and took the boat after some shared drinks. Ww split up after reaching the city. We got a sweet deal for a stay at a hotel that was within our budget so we went north as the rest followed the road further east. We will see two of then again, the others are going home. #caminonorte #caminodesantiago #hiking

A wonderful walk going from salt marsh to beach, to mountain, to long beach, through villages and hilly countryside, perfect weather. Staying at Guemes, a very special albergue that has been run for over 40 years in this sleepy little village by a now 86 year old priest who travelled the world in his younger years. This is the very best experience you can get as a pilgrim on the #caminonorte. #caminodesantiago #hiking

Importend! Do not take the path parralel to the Highway towards Oriñon! Its all bushes, brambles and vines, oveegrown like crazy. If you do try it, bring a machete and wear long sleeves and long trousers to keep from beeing tripped and scraped. We foubd out the hard way and had ti turn back! #caminonorte #hiking #caminodesantiago

Finally reached our destination at Castro Urdiales. We will hang out here for an extra day to celibrate my 36th Birthday. Looking forward to a nice rest after the 200+ km of hiking across Biskaia. Cantabria, here we come! #caminonorte
