just obligation and downtime fills our 3 hour timeslot. we roleplay a lot xD and it's good that way ^^

this week was all prep for the next mission: exploring the lower levels of the bastion, looking for missing people.

we had suspected sentient spoons, a confused goatman, an extremely unkind mother, flirting with a mean girl, and so much work done on the flagship!

getting a hang of this and enjoying it a lot ^^

it wasn't really a mystery in the normal sense. we just went through a bunch of items that we had stashed in the oubliette.

turns out we've got lots of really powerful stuff in there ^^
a puzzle cube that has multiple effects, a crystal that lets plants grow out of control, an orb that can enhance the life energy of beings and a flower that can save someone from certain death

next mystery, we'll deal with a reoccurring villain for the last time!

sometimes you come up with a mystery that connects baba yaga, cryptids and pokemon... and it works!!!

turns out the spooky has powers because her ancestor made a deal with baba yaga

and the searcher's first encounter cryptid got captured by a brainwashed child

that child always had a mystical connection to unusual animals and the BBEGs used that skill and developed essentially pokeballs for the child to store his army in

it be like that sometimes!

- the unlikely hero guy got unstuck from a rubble pile
- the harmony goatman became biiiiiiiiig and gently intimidated the space pirates away
- the stranger "human" just full on turned invisible in front of everyone

splitting each episode into two sessions really works best for us 😌
looking forward to more ^^
next mission: find missing people! what could possibly go wrong? :DDDDD

there were forest mysteries, unknown robots, a talking pink owl, unseen assailants and more!

also, i did exactly 2 finishers with my swashbuckler and they both ended up being crits! the best! gotta love when the dice luck is with you like this 😌

sometimes when 4/5 hunters have really high +Weird and they use magic and similar things all the time you just gotta put a big magic shield over the whole city that gives -1 to all magic.

and yet they broke the shield and got their magic back in the end.

obvs not gonna do that all the time, but it was fun to have the villains create circumstances that were specifically designed to hinder the party for once ^^

excited to see how this'll go forward 💚

ran my first session of #gbm ever!
it was a rollercoaster xD

- everyone got a lot of stress from obligation, which is to be expected in the start.
- then they prepared really well for the mission and had a really good engagement roll!!!
- and then a player failed her first action roll badly, got harm, tried to resist, rolled bad, stress full, rolled eclipse, failed.

1 action roll -> eclipse!
despite friends helping and spending links!

we're gonna play sea of stars! the characters are:
- an oracle who is the daughter of the bastion's general! (Time Traveller)
- an eldritch horror who is disguised as a totally normal human woman (Stranger)
- a four-armed alien goatman from the dawn of time, who's been cryo-frozen for 10000 years (Harmony)
- and a depressed man (Unlikely Hero)

we finished the 11 session mini-campaign. it was good <3
even tho it was a short game, everyone got pretty attached to their characters and we had a lot of emotions.

spent half the session just having all the character epilogues. very good ^^

now the next thing for me on this timeslot will be my first #GirlByMoonlight campaign, with some of the peeps from this campaign actually.
am very excited to get into that ^^

sometimes it's best to interrupt initiative, so that one PC and the adversary from their backstory can have a bit of an exchange that results in a duel between them, while the rest of the party and the adversary's minions stand by and watch.
very good! very tasty! very narratively satisfying!

it was a close match! the PC won with literally 1 HP left! gotta love when the dice cooperate on the good story-telling ^^

now we got some questions for that adversary!

in the last session i hinted that someone from the Crooked's past was making their way to the hunter's hometown.

and now it was time for that! there were contracts made with devils, a supervillain name that made the hunters laugh, a sfw succubus (nicknamed huggubus), Divine teleportation mishaps, a storm that started too fast and ended once the mystery was over and much more ^^

fun session, i wanna run more!!! if only time and energy were not limited!

what used to be Strength of Thousands has gone more or less off the rails xD
i reflavoured so many things in book 2 that it essentially turned into a whole different game. except that "dungeons" still have the same layout, but are inhabited by very different peeps.
the chapter 3 antagonists have become more or less vampires/undead xD

but hey, we're having fun!

i think i'm not made to run APs tho xD got too many ideas to change stuff xD

having a co-gm is super fun. we sat together a while ago and made up some shared bbeg type peeps.

now i get super excited as a player whenever something from those bbegs shows up.

playing a distracted teenager stops me from accidentally meta-gaming there too. she usually notices too little to really know what's going on. it be like that.

also, she's ex-divine, now hex and finally got her wings back! love to pop in and out of places and be sassy 😌

we're getting to the finale of this campaign. the party found a nice spot of land on which to settle in this post apocalypse.
but there's some kind of poisonous sludge monster in a nearby "lake" that could cause trouble later on. best get rid of that.
what could possibly go wrong?

they prepared with some defensive magic and went to the lake. a black pudding jumped out at them and that's where we left it so far.
excited for next week ^^

Little #campaigndiary. I’m running Stygian Library for my group. It’s really nice that it slots into #OSR

I’m using #ose.

Although I may need to make my own “copy” of the book with lots of hyperlinks. It’s great, but it’s roll heavy. I don’t know enough about either game to just wing it. So I’m just flipping through a lot of pages. Every. Single. Floor.

I think this fits best as a side setting in a campaign rather than the full campaign itself. A place for players to dig up rumors.

we finally met the necromancer from the warlock's backstory. very intense and emotional. and very good ^^
we had to end the session right at initiative.

now i got two weeks to figure out how my cleric is gonna feel about her.
she has done some pretty horrible things, but might also not be beyond redemption. complicated situation 🤔

and ofc i don't wanna make this be all about me, it's the warlock's backstory. but i have many thoughts ^^

the skeleton finally got pants! they are fancy pants! gifted from the fae queen after impressing her ^^

this short campaign is coming to a close and i have some ideas on how to finish it, but nothing that really jumps out at me yet 🤔
luckily i will most likely have smth good by next wednesday <3 (this approach has worked for the last 4 years at least 😌)

First session of the first game I've played in I-don't-care-to-remember-how-long.

Gnome bard inspired by the "Two kinds of bard" meme (The "Welcome to the occult spell list" kind) bursted in in the middle of the boss fight.

We killed off the wraith, the king was reborn and our gunslinger died and was carried by the catfolk to the nearest Grove to not be turned. (A bag of holding can do as a makeshift gentle reposte, who would've thunk?)

when this campaign started two years ago i jokingly asked if my cleric's deity can be princess serenity / sailor moon and the gm said yes.

today we encountered an old shrine to the deity who would have been selune in the forgotten realms. turns out that some deities have many names and in our version of the setting selune sometimes goes by serenity / usagi ^^

this campaign has such a good mix of serious stuff and then jokes like this <3 love it!

it was not actually a mystery but more just downtime and chilling kinda session ^^

i got to introduce a local 96 y/o "deffo not a witch" who gave the party some useful info, but also complained about the spooky for being scared.

the witch also has psychic powers and premonitions and learned to control them. but the spooky being scared and worried now causes the witch to have bad premonitions again, hence the complaining.

love playing cranky old ladies 😌
