It has the charm of an adventure B-picture but it looks very impressive. It’s quite content to provide spectacle and harmless entertainment. And there's plenty of romance.

The makeup effects are impressive in their way. They wanted a walking tree trunk that looked just slightly human and that’s what they got. It looks dumb but it looks like a slightly human tree trunk.
