I have pretty strong views (sensory issues) with cutlery. Always have had. My parents would always set my place at the dinner table with a ‘little’ knife and fork. And the feel of plastic or wooden cutlery is grim to me. So I’ve been carrying travel cutlery for years, and it’s exactly the kinda thing that brings out the magpie in me. Here’s some of my favourites:

I’m on a (years-long, but sort of leisurely) mission to find the ULTIMATE insulated travel mug, and would welcome recommendations.

Here are things I look for, in approx order of importance:
- very leakproof
- not too big (max 350 ml)
- easy-clean… especially the lid
- metal body; plastic lid
- fairly slim (max 7.5 cm diameter)
- dishwasher safe
- well insulated
- nice colours, but no fussy patterns

This metal hook, one of two that I bought recently at a camping outfitter store, is saving my brain on a less-than-optimal bus ride at the moment. I guess it's become fashionable for corporate bus lines not to provide storage pockets of any kind on seat backs.

I wouldn't leave the thermos on the hook indefinitely, too heavy, but it's fine while I'm seated here.

Hands are free to use the phone, thank God. Critical advantage.
