This mountain #railroad was built for hauling materials during the construction of the O’Shaughnessy dam at #HetchHetchy. The tracks are no longer there, but the grade on which they ran is still clearly visible as part of the the roadbed of Mather Rd. and in #CampMather itself. https://www.abandonedrails.com/hetch-hetchy-railroad

Cool to see @campmather on here! That’s probably the park I’m most excited to visit on my tour of #everySFpark - though, is it possible to reach #CampMather without a car?

#HetchHetchy and #CampMather are well upstream of this stretch of the #Tuolumne River. The Hetch Hetchy and Don Pedro reservoirs both are part of the Tuolumne system and are brimming with water, even before the season’s coming snowmelt.
