Pedal Power ACT, supported by other community groups, has today launched a new campaign calling on the ACT Government to invest heavily in cycling and other active travel infrastructure.

Bought an ebike to replace my common short car trips (2km to 7km each way). Building new habits and seeing the district afresh from the paths.

Fun part (in right weather) is the top-down motoring feeling.

What surprised me most is how much route learning and trial & error there is. Lots of options to get say cross-district but with varying degrees of path standard and connectability. Many paths would benefit from more clearing / sweeping. But 2 months in and it’s going quite alright.

For these short trips I reckon it costs me about 21c/km by car or 1.2c/km by ebike.
