At these latitudes about 3/8 of the day is light & 5/8 dark. Daylight is now lengthening by nearly 4 minutes each day. As #GroundhogDay it traditionally marks the first stirrings of spring.

Before #GroundhogDay, there was #HedgehogDay. German immigrants to Pennsylvania in USA brought their #Candlemas weather forecasting superstition, which involved observing bears, badgers, or hedgehogs, and adapted them to groundhogs.

In England, the #Snowdrop is the first spring flower & has the common names "Fair Maid of February" & "Candlemas Bells."

Snowdrops have an #InnerStrength.
They contain a natural form of #Antifreeze, which helps them survive & bloom in freezing weather.
