@cwebber can I ask you a question?

I'm curious how much overlap/convergence there is between the way cross-vat IPC sends serialized descriptions of pipelined ops referencing remote caps and the way that syscalls in io_uring can be interpreted as ops on references to kernel-side data structures (where ebpf could be the most general possible pipelining scheme)

e.g., where does the comparison break down? has anyone talked about this pattern/evolution in general?

@chjara One of the many ideas that comes up in the papers.

One interesting aspect it also would have is that it'd lend itself very nicely to storage .

Over the last few months, my colleague Patrick Jahr and I wrapped four APIs for : The Badging, File Handling, Web Share, and Async Clipboard API. You can now conveniently use these modern web from C#. To my knowledge container breakout is incredibly difficult to achieve (assuming the container was deployed correctly), as it requires kernel exploitation, and thus a hacker with proper systems programming knowledge[1]

Buffer overflow is usually exploited in order to gain control over the application's privileges, as a sort of puppet master. But in a container the application itself has extremely limited or knowlege about the system.

What kind of memory exploit in C could be used to escalate the privileges of a container?

🇪🇺 was so to ensure the concept stood out that it proposed recovering the propulsively. To enable this kind of recovery, the spacecraft would be required to launch with a large reserve of propellant ⛽ that would not be necessary if it was being recovered with a parachute 🪂 system. In a vehicle like the upper stage, this fuel spend can be mitigated by its huge . However, in a vehicle as small as Susie, this tradeoff becomes more than a little hard to swallow. The US 🇺🇸 was the product of this same kind of extreme which, in the end, ensured that it was not capable of delivering on its most important europeanspaceflight.substack.c

Love for

I know many people won't know about or have already dismissed it because it's "old", etc., but I believe that opinion is doing an injustice.

Just because a program is old, doesn't mean it's obsolete -- and for years, Thomas Dickey has done an amazing job at keeping up to date.

Sure, it's not a GPU-accelerated program. Sure, does support Sixel (yay).

But in reading Thomas' website, deserves a whole lot more recognition than it gets. See: invisible-island.net/xterm/xte

So let's see some love for , it's , and the fact that (IMO) it's overlooked significantly. There's no reason for that -- it does a shit load more than kitty does, for example.
