I've no doubt fandom-dot-com still has loads of useful info on it.
It's just a shame it's completely inaccessible now. Every movement, every scroll, every click and you drown in a fresh new deluge of flashy animated popup ads... It's pointless even trying.
And yeah, I know if I'm on desktop I can use #uBlock or something... But it's still all but unusable on mobile.

Did some searches. Yeah. I love how they totally ignore the fact that they get a crapton of amazing moderation for *free*, and still treat it like a money-making scheme.
Lol. Got blocked on Facebook because I asked if there were any article alternatives to a YouTube rant someone posted.
I rarely watch opinion pieces on YouTube. First, YouTube’s advertising policy encourages people to ramble on for ten minutes instead of being short and concise. Second, I read faster than people talk even when they aren’t trying to pad out content for monetization.
Any legitimate news or concerns get real articles somewhere anyway.

"For some background, Hohn is worth $7.48 billion — and, according to Fortune Magazine, paid himself nearly $2 million a day in 2022, making him the best-paid man in the history of Great Britain. He is the 302nd-richest man in the entire world."
And he demanded to Alphabet CEO to lay off another 28000 workers because 12000 was not enough.

"Profit-driven management has eroded pediatric health care in America. Health care providers make more money treating adults than they do children. As a result, the number of hospitals offering pediatric care has decreased dramatically over the past two decades."

#capitalismruinseverything
So apparently ArtForum got bought by a stupid billionaire's son's company and now BookForum is going away. Because if there's one thing billionaires' sons hate, it's books.
A major loss. There's really no other publication in the US like BookForum.
Ban billionaires!

Good morning #Mastodon !☕️ A friendly reminder that #corporations are not people, they should not be treated like people, and they really do not care about people either, #workers and customers alike. We should work towards relying on them less and getting their influence out of our government. #CorporateAmericaSucks #supportsmallbusiness #SupportLocalSmallBusiness #capitalismsucks #buylocal #capitalismruinseverything #corporationsarenotpeople #corporationsruineverything #corporategreed

I'm not Christian but I am a religion nerd. So it's driving me just a little batty that so many stores are offering "advent calendars" that only have twelve items in them.
(For those of you who are unfamiliar with Christianity, the season of Advent and the Twelve Days of Christmas are not the same thing. They are two different time spans.)
@craigmaloney That's something I've been internally grumbling about when I see folks say "social media bad old school web good"--there is a merit to "lowering the bar" to post stuff. It allows more people to participate--aka accessibility.
This grace to social media does not extend to the rampant algorithmic abuse and anti-patterns these companies use to get rich though. Alas, if we could have one but not the other. #CapitalismRuinsEverything
