#eBay's #CAPTCHA system is very clearly just training AIs now. The "castle or stadium?" ones were pretty, but these are the most godawful "drawings" of mice I've ever seen.
There is still the text-based accessibility fallback, but it's... unexpectedly philosophical.
I also can't help but think giving any bot a 1/8 chance of just guessing correctly means it isn't about security anymore - it feels a lot more like "You're a mobile user? Great, I love captive audiences! Earn us some AI money".
Warum kann ich die Website des Literaturfestivals Berlin #ilb nur aufrufen, wenn ich mit einem Bilder-Captcha eine #KI irgendwo trainiere? Ernsthafte Frage!
Why can I only access the website of International #Literature #Festival #Berlin if I train some #AI somewhere by clicking on a captcha (identifying motorbikes of all things)?
#ilb #ki #literature #festival #berlin #ai #wtf #captcha

Here's a #captcha that does not require js.
It requires changing the size of ones #browser, which, via #CSS, rotates a wheel, the spokes of which contain words. The CSS also updates the rotation in degrees. When rotated these spokes of words position themselves into a sentence. User must resize browser till such that the sentence makes sense.
User enters the value in degrees (eg. 180, 240) that correspond to the sensible sentence.

Like it's not even a "please click our #CAPTCHA meant to prevent false reports by bots (which isn't a thing btw!) but literally Registrars like #GoDaddy saying in corporate legalese:
'We don't give a f**k about spamming and we won't do jack shite about that!'
There's a reason .de domains are one of the best regarded, and it's not because #DeNIC demands a legal resident with a fax number as contact, but because regulators like @BNetzA are rightfully short-fused re: #SPAM.

Překvapí vás, když vám řeknu, že umělá inteligence je v luštění #captcha lepší než lidé? https://qz.com/ai-bots-recaptcha-turing-test-websites-authenticity-1850734350
Apparently my failed attempt to set up #2FA for #GitHub was due to some browser extension. Although I've explicitly granted access to all domains temporaily in those extensions (adblocker, JS blocker etc.) it still hadn't worked. Only after I've completely disabled forecited extensions it finally worked.😪
Having said that: GitHubs #captcha's are ridiculous!

#Bots are better than humans at cracking ‘Are you a robot?’ #Captcha tests, study finds
New study suggests effort users put in cracking these puzzles every day may be more trouble than its worth. A recent comprehensive study reveals that automated bots are substantially more efficient than humans at cracking Captcha tests, a widely used security measure on 100s of popular websites. https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/captcha-test-bots-better-humans-b2389998.html
Why yes, scrolling through 12 candidates to find a given sum on 5 dice six times over is a TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE time/attention commitment for a #CAPTCHA
Did someone read "An Empirical Study & Evaluation of Modern CAPTCHAs" from https://arxiv.org/pdf/2307.12108
How captchas will be then used ? Should we remove them ?
I'm convinced #CAPTCHA bullshit drains billions out of the world economy, if not trillions.
I can't even imagine how many hours of my life are wasted by CAPTCHAs, how many services I did not sign up for, how many things I did not do in life because I was talking to tech support about some stupid "unusual activity" bullshit.
If you don't only intend to expose your website's visitors to mass surveillance carried out by an NSA collaborator but also wish to lock out real humans and only serve AI-driven bots, then you should definitely consider slapping #reCAPTCHA on any free spot wherever possible!
