NEW short, illustrated article on my concept of #career tapering for the #Japan Association for #Language Teaching @jalt - "Lifelong Learning and Retiring Retirement Stereotypes."
Most #employed residents of Japan & many other countries will be unable or unwilling to #retire. If forced out by #ageism, stereotypical dismissiveness towards older people & sudden loss of #status can be vertiginous. Yet there is great demand for our services, e.g., in #internationaleducation. I counter #stereotypes of tapering off or career decline & instead offer a positive vision of #ActiveAgeing. There are suggestions to enjoy a better #qualityoflife than ever, with more time to create & #curate. #LifelongLearning can accord with lifelong interests.
