When I am 90years old, and have lots and lots of medical appointments. I hope someone is kind enough to find a 30 or 40 year old smart phone type device, I understand, for me to keep my appointments in.

AND I promise I won't ignore it and write all my appointments incorrectly on little scraps of paper stuffed in a book, or under the lamp, or next to the TV and then get all frustrated that the up coming appointments are not when I though they were.

It's over six feet tall and has been grown from seed by an older relative who has dementia and who's always loved gardens and the outdoors.

The gardening activity was supported by lovely care staff (great social care - it happens!).

I was offered a contract by age care providers Hall & Prior as a part of a take over of our facility. I told their three representatives that they could shove their contract and I didn’t know how they could sit there and argue their case for what I believed was screwing carers

Today carers receive an increase in their pay rate. I also see the worst in corporate greed. A commercial aged care company downgrades what it considers a carer does by arguing the tasks being performed constitute a small part of the carers duties only

Home care agency rang. Another carer called out sick (Tuesday's one was out too). A lot seem to be coming down with something. So they're really short staffed. No carer tomorrow or Sunday. It's only an hour a day. Luckily we can make do.

Working as an unpaid #carer for a family member presents many challenges. High on the list is free time.

I make a trade off, no 'social life' holidays, breaks so I can maximise the few hours per week that I do have to meet up with people within my local community, to listen to their stories, their truth about surviving in the UK of the now, to help where I am able & to interview, recording first hand testimony & to photograph.

The interest in preventing carer burnout continues to grow - let's all celebrate better death literacy!
