A friend of mine who grew up in NYC has been in Seattle today on a brief visit and in our wanderings around town has been amazed by how frequent and convenient King County Metro bus service has been. I told him we have underground trains, too. "Wait, Seattle has a subway? I thought you just had the monorail!"

U District to Golden Gardens for a king tide beach walk (via Rt 31 + 40) ... then downtown to Uwajimaya to pick up groceries (via Rt 45 + E Line) ... then home from Chinatown/ID (via Link 1 Line) to make a Balinese yellow spice paste ... then lapswimming in Ballard (via Rt 31 + 40) then home (via Rt 44).

Holy Crap! I just peeked on Wayfair.com and they're selling this exact same futon and frame for $1200! On sale for $600, lol. Thank you middle class person who set out their gently used stuff out on the curb with a 'free' sign (no bed bugs!). And yay for transporting wacky things by bicycle!

Hot Tip for #carfreeliving - get a cargo trailer and learn how to tie knots. And always have extra paracord for strange loads or 5mm climbing accessory cord for the extra heavy stuff.
