Sidelined after a 1956 car crash, Perkins watched from a hospital bed as “Blue Suede Shoes” topped the pop/ country/ R&B charts, only to be overshadowed by Elvis’s cover version on LP and TV. "Matchbox" was recorded as a #rockabilly song by Carl Perkins in December 1956 and by fellow #SunRecords performer, #JerryLeeLewis – who played piano on the original track – in 1958. #SamPhillips.

In 1984 scoort hij een grote hit met wat we noemen #TheFrogSong, en produceert hij de animatiefilm die er bij hoort #RupertAndTheFrogSong een opluchting na de flop "Give My Regards to Broad Street"
In 1985 sluit hij het benefietconcert #LiveAid af met de song #LetItBe van

In 1957 leert Paul via een vriend #JohnLennon kennen en stapt in diens band #TheQuarrymen, vanaf dan start een geschiedenis met de popmuziek nadat ze hun naam veranderd hebben in #TheBeatles.

Carl Perkins geeft zo het typische Chuck Berry nummer een "Perkins-touch".
Carl's cover kwam nooit op single uit en verscheen pas in 1975 op een verzamelalbum.

When Elvis Presley was recording his cover of Carl Perkins’ “Blue Suede Shoes” he insisted on singing “You can burn my house, steal my car, drink my pee-pee from an old fruit jar.” It wasn’t until Perkins showed up with a blackjack in hand threatening #Presley that the king finally acquiesced and sang the correct lyrics!
