One reason many residents stay home during Monterey Peninsula's "Car Week" (Aug 11-20): Speeding drivers. Monterey Police Department reported people driving at speeds of 94mph and 87mph the past two days in Lighthouse Ave tunnel (where limit is 40mph, TMK https://monterey.municipal.codes/Code/20-40).

The 2023 Monterey County Bike Map has been completed and is now available online in 8-1/2 x 11 PDF formats. In addition, new Z-fold maps are anticipated to be available for distribution by August 2023.

The last edition was in 2016, so the new map is a cause of celebration for visitors and residents of #MontereyCounty.

#Monterey "County Supervisor Mary Adams, whose district includes #Carmel Valley, says that despite initial skepticism, she’s now 'very comfortable' with using public-private partnerships to shore up local #infrastructure.

"'So many roads and bridges are in terrible condition here,' Adams says. 'In a district where we have so many #CountyRoads, and so many competing interests for funding throughout the county, it’s been a challenge.'"
