Cephalotus follicularis yawning in the afternoon. I'm using a clay pot and this soil mix: one part of peat, one part of quartz sand, one part of perlite, a coffee spoon of trichoderma and clay balls on the bottom for drainage. El mecanismo de cierre de las hojas es tan especializado que puede distinguir entre presas vivas y estímulos diversos como gotas de agua, en el caso de que sea una presa, esta debe tocar dos de los pelos en un intervalo de veinte segundos o solo uno dos veces en rápida secuencia, tras lo cual los lóbulos se cierran en una décima de segundo.

#Nepenthes ampullaria is not rare but unique in its own way: it’s #detritivorous rather than carnivorous. The pitchers are there to collect leaf litters instead, that’s why the pitcher lid is so small.

Today’s photo is another #CarnivorousPlant from partner’s collection. This is a Cape Sundew, Drosera capensis. These generally have purple flowers, but partner also has one with no anthocyanin, which has white flowers, and no red colouring in the leaves and blobs. #Drosera #Sundew #GardeningAu
